The thirteenth World Potato Congress in Kenya will look closely at the rise of potato processing in the Global South. On the morning of twenty-seven October, three company leaders will speak in one session. Soundararadjane S. of the Indian HyFun Group will tell the India potato story. Allen Wang of SnowValley will explain China's growing role in value-driven processing. Humphrey Mburu, founder of Kenya's Sereni Fries, will describe how processing is expanding in Kenya. A panel with all three follows. The congress also covers seed systems, genetics, pests and diseases, smart farming, storage and climate resilience. Two days later, a Farmers Field Day at Mau Narok is expected to bring together more than fifteen hundred farmers and delegates around live demonstration plots. The organisers say sixty-three countries are already represented and warn delegates to register only through the official website.
An 13th World Potato Congress in Kenya will hold a session on the growth of processed potato products in the Global South. It takes place on Tuesday, 27 October 2026. The session features the heads of three processors from India, China and Kenya.

- 11:45 — Panel discussion with all three speakers.
The wider programme
The congress programme covers seed systems, genetics, crop management, soil and water, pests and diseases, smart farming, post-harvest solutions and climate resilience. A Farmers Field Day follows on Thursday, 29 October, at Mau Narok. The organisers expect more than 1,500 farmers and international delegates there. Partners have already planted their demonstration plots, which the Freshcrop agronomy team monitors.
According to the organisers, 63 countries are already represented. Keynote PCO is the official conference organiser, and the organisers warn about unauthorised agencies.

India and China are now the fastest-growing fry exporters, and Kenya is building its own processing base. The session brings the three models on one stage: large export-oriented industry in Asia and a young processing sector in East Africa.
